I Ate The Perfect Diet For 9 Years. I Got Worse.
Share
I spent five hundred dollars a month on food when I was barely earning any money. Grass-fed beef. Pastured eggs. Wild salmon. Bone broth every morning. I had jars of fermented vegetables lined up on my kitchen counter. Raw sauerkraut, water kefir, homemade yogurt. Organic everything. Zero sugar, zero gluten, zero seed oils.
And I was so bloated I could not wear normal clothes. I was afraid to eat the food I had cooked from scratch.
For nine years.
If you are reading this, you have probably done a version of the same thing. So let me say the part that took me nine years to learn. Your food is not the problem. Your blood is. And no food, no matter how clean, will heal a body when the blood underneath is dirty.
Nine years of eating exactly what every wellness expert online said to eat, and my gut got worse. I would sit in front of a meal I had cooked from the most pristine ingredients I could afford, and I would be afraid of it. One day I looked at my hand and I could see white spots under the skin of my fingers. Not on the surface. Under the skin. I believe to this day that was mold growing inside my body that I could actually see.
I ended up in the emergency room. That was the moment I understood. There is no food that will save you.
The thing I believed in most
Let me tell you what I believed in most, because if you are reading this, you probably believe in it too.
Fermented food.
Sauerkraut, kimchi, water kefir, coconut yogurt, kombucha. Every gut-healing protocol on the internet centered fermented food. The idea was simple. Your gut bacteria are off. Fermented foods have good bacteria. Eat more, rebuild the gut, heal everything. I ate fermented food every single day for years. I made it at home. I had jars lined up on my counter. It felt like a ritual. It felt like medicine.
My candida got worse. My bloating got worse. The white spots appeared.
Here is what nobody told me. Fermented foods are dead foods. They are pre-digested by microbes. When your body is already struggling with yeast overgrowth, when your blood is already dirty, adding more microbial load is not healing. It is more work for a body that cannot keep up. I was not feeding my gut. I was overloading it. And no amount of perfecting which fermented food I ate, which strain of bacteria, which brand, which fermentation time, was going to change that. The problem was not the food. The problem was the body receiving it.
The ER
The ER visit happened because my body finally stopped. I will spare you the details. What matters is I was lying on a hospital bed thinking, I have done everything right. I have eaten the cleanest food. I have followed every rule. And I am here.
That was the moment the entire framework cracked open.
Here is what I wish someone had said to me nine years earlier, and what I am saying to you now. The body is not broken. It is dirty. When your blood is dirty, no food will clean it. You can eat the most pristine diet in the world and your blood will still be dirty, because the problem is not what you are putting in. The problem is what is already in there that needs to come out.
And here is what nobody in the wellness industry is going to say out loud, because saying it would put most of them out of business. There is no food, no supplement, no probiotic, and no protocol that cleans dirty blood. Only removal does. Every product on every shelf, every powder, every fermented vegetable, every adaptogen, every gut-healing kit, is asking you to add something. Healing happens when you stop adding.
The women who heal are not the women who find the perfect diet. They are the women who stop looking for one.
Where most women get stuck
That is the moment most women get stuck. They have been told their entire life that healing means finding the right thing to add. The right diet. The right protein. The right probiotic. They have never been told that their body is intelligent and self-regulating, and that what is keeping the gut bloated, the candida cycling, and the bowels stuck is not what is missing from the plate. It is what is already in the blood, overloading the system. The first step is not adding another food. It is seeing what is already there.
The Cell Scan is where that begins. It is a free document I wrote for women who have spent years perfecting their diet and watching their gut get worse. It is not a protocol. It will not hand you another food list, another elimination diet, another gut-healing kit. It walks you through why your body stopped responding to the cleanest food you could afford, and what it would actually take to start again. Most women read it and see their own life on the page. The years of clean eating. The bloodwork that came back in range while the bloating and the candida and the fatigue kept getting worse.
Read it before you spend another dollar on another protocol that asks you to add one more thing.
What changed for me
I stopped chasing food. Completely. I stopped buying the special ingredients. I stopped making the fermented foods. I stopped reading the books and listening to the podcasts. And I started looking at the only thing that mattered, the blood underneath the gut.
I changed three things. I did not add. I removed. I changed what I was drinking. I changed what I was exposing my body to during the day. I changed what I was exposing my body to at night. Three removals, not three additions, are what cleared nine years of bloating, candida, and gut dysfunction.
My gut started working again. Not overnight. Steadily. My bloating came down. My candida cleared. The white spots under my fingers went away. My hair grew back. My cycles returned. My skin cleared. And I will tell you something that might surprise you. I eat less intentionally now than I did then. I do not obsess. I do not perfect. I eat fresh food when I am hungry. Simple food. And my body uses it, because my body is clean enough to use it.
Food became nourishment the moment my body was clean enough to receive it.
The three removals that cleared my gut are not necessarily the three that will clear yours. The bloating, the candida, the constipation, the food sensitivities you are living with right now are coming from a specific overload in your blood that is yours. The Cell Scan is where you start to see what that is.
If you have been perfecting your diet for years and your gut is still wrecked, hear me. You are not failing. The framework is failing you. No food will save you. Your gut does not need a better diet. It needs a cleaner bloodstream underneath it.
Add up what you have already spent. The food. The supplements. The protocols. The consultations. The kits. Whatever the number is, that is a subscription. The training is the cancellation. The women who exit this get years back. Not symptoms reduced. Years back.
Vivienne Lamb resolved nine years of severe gut dysfunction, candida, and bloating by addressing the state of her blood, not the diet. She trains women with chronic health conditions to do the same.
