What Constipation, Bloating, and IBS Are Actually Telling You
Share
You wake up and your stomach is already tight. Before you've eaten anything. Before you've had water. Before the day has even started, your body is already telling you something is wrong.
By noon, the bloating is visible. You unbutton your jeans or change into something loose because you can't stand the pressure. You eat a salad, a salad, and your stomach expands like you just ate a four-course meal.
You've been told you have IBS. Maybe SIBO. Maybe "just stress." You've been given a low-FODMAP list and told to keep a food diary. You've eliminated gluten, dairy, sugar, alcohol, caffeine. And it's still happening.
Here's what nobody has told you yet: your gut is not the problem. Your gut is reacting to what's in your blood. And until you understand that, nothing you do is going to make this stop.
You've Built Your Whole Life Around This
You know which restaurants are safe and which ones aren't. Not because of allergies, because of bathrooms. You know where every bathroom is in every building you walk into. You've stopped wearing fitted clothes. You bring a backup outfit or a sweater you can tie around your waist.
You've declined dinners. Cancelled plans. Avoided travel because the idea of being bloated and uncomfortable on a plane or in someone else's house makes your chest tight.
You've had moments, maybe at someone's wedding, maybe at work, maybe just in the grocery store, where the pain hit so suddenly and so sharply that you had to leave. And nobody around you understood why.
You've learned to smile through it. You've learned to say "I'm fine" when someone asks why you're not eating. You've built your entire life around managing a body that feels like it's working against you.
And the worst part? You've started to believe this is just how your body is. That you're someone who "has a sensitive stomach." That this is your normal.
It's not. And it doesn't have to be.
What Your Doctor Told You
When you went to the doctor, and I know you've been to more than one, here's what probably happened. They ran blood work. Normal. They did an endoscopy or a colonoscopy. Normal. Maybe they tested for celiac. Negative. And then they said: "It looks like irritable bowel syndrome."
IBS is not a diagnosis. It's a label. It means "your bowel is irritable and we don't know why." That's it. It describes your symptoms back to you and gives them a name so they can code it for insurance. But it doesn't tell you what's causing it. And it doesn't tell you how to fix it.
So what did they offer? A low-FODMAP diet. Maybe a prescription antispasmodic. Maybe a fibre supplement. Maybe "manage your stress." All of which are management tools. Not one of them addresses why your gut stopped functioning properly in the first place. And not one of them looks at your blood.
Then you went looking for answers on your own. You found probiotics. Elimination diets. SIBO protocols and candida cleanses and digestive enzymes and betaine HCL and L-glutamine and bone broth and everything else the wellness world told you would help.
Some of it gave you temporary relief. Most of it didn't. And now you're here, still bloated, still constipated or running to the bathroom, still wondering what is actually going on.
What's Actually Going On
Your constipation, your bloating, and whatever label they've given your gut issues are not malfunctions. They're signals. They're your body telling you: my blood is dirty and I can't keep up.
Your gut lining is fed by your blood. Every cell in that lining receives oxygen, nutrients, and immune signals through the bloodstream. When your blood is clean, it delivers what the gut needs to function: clean fuel, clear signals, proper immune support. When your blood is dirty, carrying waste, inflammatory markers, metabolic debris that should have been cleared but wasn't, it delivers all of that to your gut lining too.
Your gut is trying to function while being fed contaminated blood. That's why it's struggling. Not because of what you ate for lunch.
Constipation means your body is not eliminating properly. Your gut moves on a rhythm. It contracts and pushes waste through in waves. That rhythm is governed by your nervous system and your circadian clock, both of which are regulated through the blood. When your blood is carrying stress hormones with no signal to stop, when cortisol stays elevated because the blood never got the light signal to regulate, that rhythm slows down. The gut holds on to things longer than it should. Waste sits. Ferments. Produces gas. And you bloat.
Bloating is the downstream effect. It's not a food sensitivity in most cases. It's stagnation. Food enters a system that hasn't finished processing what came before. The gut is backed up, not because of what you ate today, but because the blood feeding that gut hasn't been clean enough to support proper motility for months. Maybe years.
IBS, what they called it when they couldn't find a disease, is your body telling you that the blood supplying your entire digestive system is compromised. The inflammation in the gut is coming from the blood. The bacterial imbalance is happening because the environment is wrong, and the environment is wrong because the blood feeding it is wrong. The sluggish motility, the food reactions, the gas, none of these are separate issues. They're all symptoms of the same root: dirty blood feeding a gut that can't function under those conditions.
This is why elimination diets don't work long-term. You're removing today's food, but you're not cleaning the blood that's been accumulating waste for years. This is why probiotics don't work. You're trying to rebalance bacteria inside a gut that's being fed by dirty blood. The blood has to change first.
What Actually Works
When I work with clients, I don't start with their diet. I don't start with supplements. I start with cleaning the blood.
That means removing the inputs that are overloading the bloodstream and keeping the body in a constant state of processing and activation. Not just food, but stimulation. Habits and behaviors that were taught as normal but are chronically exhausting the nervous system and dumping stress hormones into the blood around the clock.
When you reduce that load, the blood starts to clean. And when the blood cleans, the nervous system starts to downregulate. The gut rhythm begins to restore on its own, because it's finally being fed by blood that can support it.
Then we regulate. Your gut has a circadian rhythm, just like your sleep. It produces enzymes and acids and moves food through at specific times tied to light and darkness. Those timing signals travel through the blood. When that rhythm is disrupted by screens at night, by eating at irregular hours, by artificial light confusing the body's clock, the blood carries the wrong hormones at the wrong time and motility suffers. Regulation means giving the blood the right signal. Sunlight in the morning. Darkness at night. So every hormone that governs your gut arrives on time.
And then restoration happens. Not because we forced it. Because the blood was finally clean enough and regulated enough for the gut to do what it was designed to do. The gut starts moving. The bloating resolves. The food sensitivities calm down, not because she's avoiding foods, but because her gut is being fed by clean blood and can actually handle them again.
My Client Michelle
Michelle lived with severe constipation for seven years. She required medication to have a bowel movement. She was also dealing with swelling, depression, pain so bad she couldn't walk some days, and complete loss of energy. She'd been to multiple doctors. She was on probiotics. She was on a restricted diet. Nothing was working because nothing was cleaning her blood.
Within the program, she had her first unmedicated bowel movement in years. She lost 30 pounds in four months without a diet and without the gym. Her energy came back. Her mood stabilized. She's walking daily now.
She didn't need a new supplement. She needed clean blood feeding a gut that could finally work.
This Is Not Permanent
If you're living around your symptoms right now, if you've organized your whole life around a gut that won't cooperate, I want you to know: this is not permanent. This is not "just how your body is." Your blood is dirty. And your gut is telling you. Once the blood gets cleaned, everything changes.
